Laser Tattoo Removal Price List
Fade and lighten unwanted tattoos safely and effectively. Pay as you go with no lock-in, or save with a treatment course — full pricing below.
Pay for each session as you go — there is no lock-in, no prepayment, and no commitment beyond the appointment in front of you. Whether you're looking for significant fading or lightening for a cover-up, we'll create a customised treatment plan tailored to your tattoo and your goals. Your first session is always charged at the standard single-session rate below; once we've seen how your skin and ink respond, we can recommend a treatment course to bring your per-session cost down.
Individual Tattoo Pricing
For single tattoos measured by size. Your technician will measure at consultation.
| Size | Description | Approx. Session | Per Session | Colour + |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Extra Small | Up to 2×2cm (coin, fingertip) | 5–10 min | $80 | None |
| Small | Up to 5×5cm (credit card, matchbox) | 10–15 min | $120 | +$30 |
| Medium | Up to 8×8cm (palm of hand, no fingers) | 15–20 min | $180 | +$30 |
| Large | Up to 12×12cm (postcard) | 20–30 min | $250 | +$40 |
| Extra Large | Up to 20×20cm (A5 paper size) | 25–40 min | $350 | +$50 |
A colour surcharge applies where your tattoo needs more than one laser wavelength in each session, which is usually the case when it contains coloured ink as well as black. Tattoos in black alone, or in a single ink colour, carry no surcharge. Your technician will confirm this at your free consultation.
Body Section Pricing
For larger tattoos covering a body section. Prices are starting points, confirmed at your free consultation based on coverage, density, and colour. Every section is sized so it can be treated properly within one appointment.
| Body Section | Area Coverage | Typical Session | From | Colour + |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Neck | Front or back of neck | 20–25 min | $250 | +$30 |
| Hand or Foot | Top of hand or foot | 15–20 min | $180 | +$30 |
| Forearm | Wrist to elbow, all sides | 30–40 min | $450 | +$50 |
| Upper Arm | Elbow to shoulder, all sides | 30–40 min | $400 | +$50 |
| Ribs (one side) | Armpit to hip, one side | 30–40 min | $450 | +$50 |
| Thigh (front) | Knee to hip, front of leg | 30–40 min | $450 | +$50 |
| Thigh (back) | Knee to hip, back of leg | 30–40 min | $450 | +$50 |
| Calf | Ankle to knee | 35–45 min | $500 | +$50 |
| Lower Back | Mid-back to waist | 35–45 min | $500 | +$50 |
| Chest | Collarbone to lower ribs | 50–60 min | $700 | +$50 |
| Upper Back | Shoulders to mid-back | 50–60 min | $700 | +$50 |
Larger Pieces
A full sleeve, a full back, or a full leg is more work than can be done well in one sitting. We treat these across two or three appointments, each covering one section. A round means one full pass over the whole piece, and the price below is the cost of completing one round.
| Larger Piece | Treated As | Sections | Base per Round | Colour Surcharge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Full Sleeve | Forearm, then Upper Arm | 2 | $850 | Up to +$100 |
| Full Back | Upper Back, then Lower Back | 2 | $1,200 | Up to +$100 |
| Full Leg | Thigh front, Thigh back, then Calf | 3 | $1,400 | Up to +$150 |
| Both Sleeves | Each arm treated as above | 4 | $1,700 | Up to +$200 |
| Both Legs | Each leg treated as above | 6 | $2,800 | Up to +$300 |
Prices are per round, not per appointment — one round means one complete pass over the whole piece. The colour surcharge is $50 for each section that contains coloured ink, because only those sections need a second laser wavelength. If only one section has colour in it, you pay one surcharge, not the maximum shown.
Worked example: A full sleeve is treated as two sections, forearm and upper arm, at a base of $850 per round. All black: $850 per round. Colour in the forearm only: $850 plus $50, so $900 per round. Colour in both sections: $850 plus $100, so $950 per round.
We keep sessions to around an hour, which is why our sections are sized the way they are. We leave at least two weeks between appointments, and each individual section is retreated every 6 to 12 weeks as usual. A limb is treated front at one appointment and back at the next — where a tattoo wraps all the way around a forearm or calf, we always split it this way, as treating a complete ring around a limb at once can make normal post-treatment swelling uncomfortable.
Cosmetic Tattoo Removal
Eyebrow and cosmetic tattoo removal is already priced well below our body tattoo rates for the equivalent treatment time, so it is charged per session at the rates below. Course pricing and the every-6th-session loyalty rate apply to body tattoo removal only.
| Service | Typical Session | Per Session | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eyebrow Tattoo Removal (Full) | 15–20 min | $100 | Both brows |
| Eyebrow Tattoo Removal (Partial) | 10–15 min | $80 | Tails or correction |
Most brow removals need 3–5 sessions. Your technician will give you an honest estimate at consultation.
Every 6th Session Half Price
Applies to pay-as-you-go body tattoo removal (cosmetic tattoo removal is excluded). There's no package to buy and nothing to pay upfront — simply keep coming back. Every sixth session with us is charged at half the normal rate, automatically, tracked in your client file.
On a Small tattoo at $120 per session, your sixth session is $60. On a Medium at $180, your sixth session is $90. It resets every six sessions — applying again at session 12, 18, and so on. Where you have more than one area treated, sessions are counted separately for each area.
Multiple Tattoos in the Same Session
If you're having more than one tattoo treated at the same appointment, each tattoo is priced at its own size band. Your largest tattoo is charged at the full rate, and every additional tattoo is charged at 20% off its own band rate.
Example: A Small ($120) and an Extra Small ($80) tattoo treated in the same session — the Small is charged at full $120, the Extra Small at 20% off, $64. Total: $184 instead of $200.
Treatment Courses
Commit to your removal journey at a lower price per session, with one clear total so you know exactly what your removal will cost from the start.
We don't ask you to commit before we've seen how your skin responds. Your first treatment session is always charged at the standard single-session rate and includes a free test pulse. Once we've seen how your skin and ink respond, we'll recommend the right course — and what you paid for that first session comes off the course price.
| Size | Single | Cover-Up Fade (3 sessions) | Fade Course (6 sessions, pay for 5) | Maximum Fade (10 sessions, pay for 8) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Extra Small | $80 | $215 $71.67/session · save $25 | $400 $66.67/session · save $80 | $640 $64.00/session · save $160 |
| Small | $120 | $325 $108.33/session · save $35 | $600 $100.00/session · save $120 | $960 $96.00/session · save $240 |
| Medium | $180 | $485 $161.67/session · save $55 | $900 $150.00/session · save $180 | $1,440 $144.00/session · save $360 |
| Large | $250 | $675 $225.00/session · save $75 | $1,250 $208.33/session · save $250 | $2,000 $200.00/session · save $500 |
| Extra Large | $350 | $945 $315.00/session · save $105 | $1,750 $291.67/session · save $350 | $2,800 $280.00/session · save $700 |
Session times shown are the laser treatment itself; allow an extra 20–30 minutes if you have booked numbing cream. As a rough guide: Extra Small is about the size of a coin, Small a credit card, Medium the palm of your hand, Large a postcard, and Extra Large a sheet of A5 paper.
Colour Surcharge on Courses
A colour surcharge applies where your tattoo needs more than one laser wavelength — usually when it contains coloured ink as well as black — because the coloured sections are treated again at a second wavelength, roughly doubling the session time. Tattoos in black alone, or a single ink colour, need only one wavelength and carry no surcharge. Where it applies, it's added to your per-session rate before the course discount is worked out, and confirmed in writing when you purchase your course for the life of that course.
- Extra Small: None
- Small: +$30 per session
- Medium: +$30 per session
- Large: +$40 per session
- Extra Large: +$50 per session
- Body sections: +$30 to +$50 per session, confirmed at consultation
Body Section Courses
Larger tattoos covering a whole body section are quoted individually at your free consultation. The rates below are starting points for a single session.
| Body Section | Area Coverage | Typical Session | From | Colour + |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hand or Foot | Top of hand or foot | 15–20 min | $180 | +$30 |
| Neck | Front or back of neck | 20–25 min | $250 | +$30 |
| Half Sleeve | Forearm, wrist to elbow | 30–40 min | $450 | +$50 |
| Ribs (one side) | Side of torso, armpit to hip | 30–40 min | $450 | +$50 |
| Calf | Ankle to knee, back of lower leg | 35–45 min | $500 | +$50 |
| Upper Back | Shoulders to mid-back | 50–60 min | $700 | +$50 |
| Chest | Front torso, collarbone to lower ribs | 50–60 min | $700 | +$50 |
| Full Sleeve | Full arm, wrist to shoulder | 50–70 min | $750 | +$50 |
| Thigh | Knee to hip, one leg | 55–70 min | $800 | +$50 |
| Full Back | Shoulders to waist | 80–100 min | $1,100 | +$50 |
| Full Leg | Ankle to hip, calf and knee and thigh | 85–105 min | $1,200 | +$50 |
A body section rate covers the whole area described, however much or little of it is tattooed. If your tattoo sits within one section but doesn't cover it, individual tattoo pricing may work out cheaper — your technician will quote whichever is lower. If you're having more than one body section treated, each is quoted and charged separately, and the multiple-tattoo discount does not apply. Course pricing follows the same rule as the size bands: six sessions for the price of five, ten for the price of eight.
Worked example: A single-colour half sleeve quoted at $450 per session. A six-session Fade Course is $450 × 5 = $2,250 ($375 per session). A ten-session Maximum Fade Course is $450 × 8 = $3,600 ($360 per session).
If You Need More Sessions: Continuation Rate
Some tattoos are stubborn. If you complete a ten-session Maximum Fade Course and still want to keep going, every further session is charged at half the single-session rate, with no time limit and nothing further to buy.
On a Medium tattoo, that's $90 instead of $180. On a Small, $60 instead of $120. You will never be asked to buy another full course to finish what you started with us.
Included With Every Course
- Free, no-obligation consultation, and your first session credited towards the course price
- One complimentary LED Post-Procedure Recovery session between laser appointments (normally $30)
- Priority booking — first choice of appointment times when you book your next session before you leave
- Progress photography at every session so you can see your fading over time
- Your price locked in for the life of the course, even if our rates change
Optional Extras
Charged separately at the same rate for all clients, whether on a course or paying as you go:
- Numbing cream: $30/session — must be requested when booking (needs 20–30 min to take effect)
- Shaving: $20 if the area needs shaving on the day — avoid by shaving 24 hours before
- Test pulse: Free — performed at your first session
- Separate test patch: Free — only for white/flesh-toned inks or certain skin types; treatment begins 8 weeks after
How Your Per-Session Rate Is Worked Out
Your course is always built on one combined per-session rate, and the course discount is applied once, at the end. Nothing is discounted twice, and nothing is added later.
- Start with the rate for your tattoo's size band.
- Add the colour surcharge if your tattoo needs more than one laser wavelength.
- Add any additional tattoos being treated in the same appointment, each at 20% off its own band rate. Your largest tattoo is always charged at the full band rate.
- That figure is your per-session rate. Your course is six of those for the price of five, or ten for the price of eight.
Worked example: A Medium tattoo in black and red, treated alongside a Small tattoo in black only. The Medium needs both wavelengths: $180 plus a $30 colour surcharge = $210. The Small needs one wavelength, no surcharge, and as an additional tattoo is 20% off its $120 rate = $96. Combined per-session rate: $306. A six-session Fade Course is $306 × 5 = $1,530. A ten-session Maximum Fade Course is $306 × 8 = $2,448. Both tattoos are treated at every session.
Payment Options
Pay as you go:settle each session on the day by card, cash, or transfer. There's nothing to commit to, and every sixth session is automatically half price.
Courses: paid in full at the time of purchase, by card, cash, or transfer — paying up front is what makes the lower per-session rate possible. You can move onto a course at any point after your first pay-as-you-go session.
Additional Information
Consultation
Free, with no obligation. We'll measure your tattoo, assess the ink, discuss your goals, and give you an accurate quote. If you're happy to go ahead, we can usually treat you the same day.
Colour Surcharge
Applies where your tattoo needs more than one laser wavelength in each session, usually when it contains coloured ink as well as black. This roughly doubles the treatment time. Confirmed at your free consultation.
Numbing Cream
$30 per session. Must be requested when you book, as it needs 20–30 minutes to take effect and we schedule extra time for it. It cannot be added on arrival.
Shaving Fee
$20 if the treatment area requires shaving on the day. Please shave the tattoo area 24 hours before your appointment to avoid this fee.
Test Pulse
Free. Performed at the start of your first session so we can set the laser correctly for your skin and ink.
Test Patch
Free. Required only for white or flesh-toned inks and some skin types. Treatment begins 8 weeks after the patch.
Cover-Up Fading
If you're fading for a cover-up rather than maximum fading, fewer sessions may be needed. We'll advise at consultation.
Cancellations
Please give at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule so we can offer your appointment to someone else.
What Affects Your Price & Number of Sessions
Every tattoo is different. The following factors influence the cost and number of sessions needed:
- Tattoo Size: Larger tattoos require more laser time per session and typically more sessions overall.
- Ink Colour: Black and dark inks respond fastest. Green, yellow, and light blue are more resistant. Coloured ink alongside black needs a second wavelength in every session, which is what the colour surcharge covers.
- Ink Density: Heavily saturated, professionally done tattoos may take longer than lighter or amateur tattoos. Cover-up tattoos have double layers of ink and typically need 30–50% more sessions.
- Tattoo Age: Older tattoos have often started to fade naturally and tend to respond faster.
- Tattoo Location: Areas with strong blood flow (torso, upper arms) tend to clear faster than extremities (hands, feet, ankles).
- Skin Type: Lighter skin types generally respond faster. Darker skin types require more conservative settings, which may mean more sessions.
- Your Goal: Significant fading typically requires 6–10+ sessions. Fading for a cover-up may only need 3–5 sessions.
Treatment Course Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all prepaid laser tattoo removal courses purchased from MDBrows. They're written to be clear and fair, and we'll go through them with you before you pay.
1. When a course can be purchased
Courses are offered only after you have completed a consultation and at least one full treatment session, charged at the standard single-session rate — so both you and your technician know how your skin and tattoo respond before you commit. The amount you paid for that first session is credited towards the course price. Courses must be paid in full at the time of purchase.
2. What your course covers
Your course covers the stated number of laser sessions on the specific tattoo or treatment area assessed at your consultation, at the settings and spacing your technician recommends. It does not cover a different tattoo or area, which would be quoted separately. Where a course covers more than one tattoo treated in the same appointment, your combined per-session rate is calculated first and the course discount is then applied once — discounts are not compounded. Any applicable colour surcharge is assessed at consultation, confirmed in writing at purchase, and included in your course total for the life of the course. Course pricing is available for body tattoo removal; cosmetic tattoo removal is charged per session only.
3. Validity period
Your course is valid from the date of purchase for the period shown below — set well beyond the time a course normally takes at the recommended session spacing.
| Course | Validity | Typically Completed |
|---|---|---|
| 3-session course | Valid 12 months | normally completed in around 5 months |
| 6-session course | Valid 18 months | normally completed in around 11 months |
| 10-session course | Valid 24 months | normally completed in around 18 months |
Sessions not used within the validity period expire and the course is closed. We will contact you two months and again one month before your course is due to expire. It is your responsibility to book and attend your sessions within the validity period.
4. Suspending your course
If circumstances prevent you from continuing your course, it may be suspended for up to 12 months at our discretion. The time remaining on your validity period at the date of suspension is preserved and reinstated when you return. Suspension is available once per course, must be requested in writing before your validity period ends, and requires supporting documentation.
5. Refunds and change of mind
Course fees are paid in advance in exchange for a reduced per-session rate. Courses are not refundable for change of mind, and unused sessions cannot be exchanged for cash, credit, or another service. If your circumstances change significantly, please speak with us — requests are considered individually at our discretion. Nothing in this clause excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. See clause 11.
6. Transfers
Courses are personal to you. They cannot be transferred to another person, exchanged for a different service, applied to a different tattoo or treatment area, resold, or split between more than one person.
7. Appointments, spacing and cancellations
Sessions must be spaced according to your technician's recommendation, typically 6–8 weeks apart for early sessions and 8–12 weeks apart for later ones — this spacing is clinical, not commercial. Please give at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule. An appointment cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, is deducted from your course as a used session (we may waive this at our discretion, but are not obliged to). If we assess on the day that it is not safe to treat you because of the condition of the treatment area — including an active tan, recent sun exposure, sunburn, or infection — the session is deducted as used. If we need to reschedule your appointment, or the treatment area hasn't healed sufficiently from your previous session, the session is not deducted. Arriving unshaven does not entitle you to reschedule without notice — we will shave the area and proceed, and the standard $20 shaving fee applies.
8. Payment
Courses are payable in full at the time of purchase. Treatment at the course rate begins once payment has been received. If you'd prefer to pay per session rather than in advance, our pay-as-you-go pricing is available at the standard rate, with every sixth session at half price. You may purchase a course at any later point.
9. Results and expectations
A treatment course is a commitment to a number of sessions at an agreed price. It is not a guarantee of a particular result. The degree of fading achievable depends on ink colour, ink depth and density, the age and location of the tattoo, your skin type, and your individual immune response — factors outside our control. Most tattoos require 6–10 or more sessions for significant fading. Some trace of the original tattoo may remain. Certain colours — green, yellow, light blue and white — are substantially more resistant and may achieve only partial fading; we will tell you if we believe this applies to your tattoo before you purchase a course. Completing a course without achieving the result you hoped for is not, on its own, a failure of the service. Your progress is photographed at every session and recorded in your file.
10. Pricing
Your per-session rate is locked in for the life of your course. If our standard prices increase, your course is unaffected. All prices include GST.
11. If something goes wrong
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your treatment, please contact us directly first so we have the opportunity to discuss it and put it right. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded, including that they will be provided with due care and skill. If a service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy, and for a major failure you may cancel and seek a refund for the unconsumed part of the service. If we cannot resolve your concern together, you may contact Consumer Affairs Victoria on 1300 55 81 81 or at consumer.vic.gov.au.
12. Your records and privacy
Your session count, treatment settings, skin response, and progress photographs are recorded in your client file. This information is stored securely and handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles, and used only for your treatment and appointment management.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does laser tattoo removal cost in Melbourne?
Individual tattoos are priced by size, from $80 per session (Extra Small, up to 2×2cm) to $350 per session (Extra Large, up to 20×20cm). A colour surcharge applies where your tattoo needs more than one laser wavelength. Body sections and larger pieces (full sleeve, full back, full leg) start from $180 per session. Cosmetic eyebrow tattoo removal is $80–$100 per session. Every 6th pay-as-you-go session is half price, and treatment courses offer 6 sessions for the price of 5, or 10 for the price of 8.
Is it cheaper to pay per session or buy a course?
A course is cheaper per session — 6 sessions for the price of 5, or 10 for the price of 8 — but is paid in full upfront and is not refundable for change of mind. Pay-as-you-go has no lock-in and no prepayment, with every 6th session automatically charged at half price. Courses are only offered after your first session, charged at the standard rate, so we can confirm the right course for your tattoo before you commit.
What is the colour surcharge and when does it apply?
A colour surcharge applies where your tattoo contains coloured ink as well as black, because the area needs a second laser wavelength, roughly doubling the treatment time. Tattoos in black alone, or a single ink colour, carry no surcharge. The surcharge ranges from +$30 (Small/Medium) to +$50 (Extra Large and most body sections) and is confirmed at your free consultation.
How does the "every 6th session half price" loyalty rate work?
There's nothing to buy and nothing to track yourself — your sessions are recorded in your client file, and every 6th pay-as-you-go session on body tattoo removal is automatically charged at half the normal rate. It resets every six sessions, so it applies again at session 12, 18, and so on. It applies to body tattoo removal only; cosmetic (eyebrow) tattoo removal is excluded, as it's already priced below standard rates.
What if I have more than one tattoo, or need more sessions than my course covers?
If you're treating more than one tattoo in the same appointment, your largest tattoo is charged at full rate and each additional tattoo is 20% off its own size band. If you complete a 10-session Maximum Fade Course and still need more sessions, every further session is charged at half the standard single-session rate, for as long as you need, with nothing further to buy.
Results vary between individuals. Factors including ink colour, ink depth, tattoo age, and skin type all influence the degree of fading achievable. Some trace of the original tattoo may remain. Your technician will discuss realistic expectations for your specific tattoo at your free consultation. Prices valid as at September 2026 and include GST. MDBrows reserves the right to update pricing without notice; courses already purchased are unaffected. Nothing in this price list excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
